Painting the room green: Saint Patrick’s Day ideas

This post is almost a must for Italish Design for Fun. So, let’s go celebrate Saint Patrick Day turning the proverbial 40 shades of green into design opportunities!

Saint Patrick’s green

Why the shamrock is so important in Saint Patrick’s hagiography?

He had to explain the meaning of the Trinity and he used something definitely common in Ireland: the shamrock!

So the shamrock is still a symbol of Ireland and green is the colour of Ireland. Why? Because Ireland is quite a lot green… And if you don’t think so, just take a look at this satellite photo!

Interior Design: one year in green

The Pantone Colour declared Emerald Green as Colour of the Year for 2013. And if Ireland is the Emerald Isle using the green color in a room is for sure a way to give it a bit of Irishness.

Green means harmony and peace, elegance and coziness: these are concepts that lovely resonate with Ireland and can be applied to the designing of a living room, a bathroom or bedroom.

This is a suggestion from graylivin blog: emerald green for table and chairs, acid green for the ornaments over the table.

In this bedroom green adds elegance and a sense of peace.

Green is a smart solution also for kids, both for lads and lasses…

Or for bathrooms. Well: Bisazza mosaic is beautiful, but not for everyone, maybe.

Before Saint Patrick: Celtic patterns

Saint Patrick used the shamrock also because it was already connected to a divine trinity: the triad of Brigid, Ériu and the Morrigan, and trinity has a great icon motive still in use: the triskel.
