As of writing, he has been living in Dublin for ten years and eleven months.<\/p>\n<p>After spending the first five years in a neighbourhood that resembles the Barrytown of beloved Roddy Doyle&#8217;s novels, he now lives within easy pilgrimage distance of Cooldrinagh, the birthplace of Samuel Beckett \u2014 the writer he feels closest to.<\/p>\n<p>He started working as a communications consultant for Catherine Dunne in 2016. From that, a friendship and a literary partnership grew, which also form the foundation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/italish.eu\/splf-home-ita\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Patrizio Livorno Festival<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He has written <em>The Day We Met Roddy Doyle<\/em>, <em>The Mystery of the Abandoned Pint<\/em>, <em>The Diaries of a Statue<\/em>, <em>The Third Life<\/em> \u2014 all spectacularly unpublished or de-published. In order to, quoting Beckett, <em>fail better<\/em>, he stopped writing in Italian.<\/p>\n<p>He completed <em>The Butterfly Saviour<\/em>, which received praise from John Banville; he is completing <em>Three Lives<\/em>; and he has started <em>She-Wolf Blood<\/em>, which he hopes will make him rich.<\/p>\n<p>For the theatre \u2014 or perhaps for his dream-partner Claudio Monteleone \u2014 he wrote <em>Nobody Else \/ Nessun Altro<\/em>, <em>You Know What I Mean \/ Lo Sai Cosa Voglio Dire<\/em>, and <em>Not-Beckett \/ Non-Beckett<\/em>, which will premiere at SPLF25 and has received praise from Patrick Bixby, President of the Samuel Beckett Society, and Federico Platania, the mind and soul behind samuelbeckett.it.<\/p>\n<p>When he\u2019s not writing, planting seeds, or cooking, Max plays Skyrim or Fallout 4 with his wife Maria Grazia, who is also his life support system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My name is Max O\u2019Rover. Max has worked with Irish author Catherine Dunne since 2016 and co-directs the San Patrizio Livorno Festival. After a long Italian-language phase, he now writes primarily in English, in fiction, theatre, and essays. He is the author of The Butterfly Saviour, praised by John Banville; Three Lives, currently in progress; and She-Wolf Blood, which he hopes will make him rich. For the stage, he has written multilingual plays including Not-Beckett, which will premiere at SPLF25 and has earned praise from both Patrick Bixby and Federico Platania.
