Bloomsday – Mirrors of Dublin
There’s a Joyce for You Too!
Mirrors of Dublin is how the San Patrizio Livorno Festival celebrates James Joyce’s Ulysses every June 16th.
It all starts in Livorno — with readings, performances, and voices in Italian, English, and dialects, in real places that mirror Joyce’s Dublin — but the goal is to let that spirit travel further.
The idea is simple yet ambitious: bringing Ulysses to Italian cities, into the living places of everyday life, letting him speak in the most authentic languages and dialects. A local, inclusive, heartfelt celebration.
We’re looking for cultural groups, associations, libraries, schools — and anyone who loves Joyce — ready to create their own Bloomsday, in their own city, in the language that feels like home.
It’s not about copying Livorno: every city can (and should) find its own way to let Ulysses speak.
