Max O’Rover is the pen name of Massimiliano ‘Max’ Roveri. He started writing about Ireland in 2008, after nearly a decade of fascination with the country. He now lives in Dublin, not far from Cooldrinagh — Samuel Beckett’s birthplace — and within reach of Barrytown, real or imagined. Max has worked with Irish author Catherine Dunne since 2016 and co-directs the San Patrizio Livorno Festival. After a long Italian-language phase, he now writes primarily in English, in fiction, theatre, and essays. He is the author of The Butterfly Saviour, praised by John Banville; Three Lives, currently in progress; and She-Wolf Blood, which he hopes will make him rich. For the stage, he has written multilingual plays including Not-Beckett, which will premiere at SPLF25 and has earned praise from both Patrick Bixby and Federico Platania. When not writing, planting seeds, or cooking, Max plays Skyrim or Fallout 4 with his wife Maria Grazia, who is also his life support system.
